Dear Yasha, you need to read what you quote. "password for xxx filesystem encryption" is not the same as "login password". But regardless of that, I recommend that you start trying things to find out what *actually* happens rather than trying to guess what other people writings mean or how software ought to and should work.

Running experiments is what test machines are for. And if you never
run experiments you will never learn what *actually* happens
and will be doomed forever to confusion and ignorance.

And get used to run the rescue DVD. If you stay in the sysadmin
business, you will run it many many many more times. It's the computer
equivalent of fixing flat tires or washing bird poop off the windshield.
