Just heard back from Andreas Bierfert, the maintainer of
Wine for FC and RHEL:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/AndreasBierfert/Wine

He is planning on supporting 1.4 or 1.4.1 when it
1.4 gets out of the RC phase.  So, patience is now
the issue.
