I successfully have built and am running the Nvidia drivers from the
Nvidia package; this is necessary to run the CUDA 4 environment for
Tesla GPUs from Nvidia, an environment that does not seem to be
compatible with the nouveau package that I have had to disable. Note
that I did not use any EL 6 distribution repository, but the actual
package from Nvidia (that may "taint the kernel" in that it may contain
non-GPL source). I would present a screen shot that contains specific
versions, etc., to this list, but evidently MIME attachments are not
allowed. I am running SL 6x, and thus presumably have the latest
updates. Note that this is not with the stock SL 6x kernel, but with a
later 2.6 version (currently on this workstation: 2.6.38.8-32.el6.x86_64).
