Scientific Linux Cyrillic Edition/NauLinux repos contains some
multimedia tools as addons for original SL:

You may try vlc, mplayer/gmplayer, xine/gxine or gstreamer-plugins for
totem (as I remember for MPEG1 -- gstreamer-plugins-good and
gstreamer-plugins-bad).
