[ Why both ulimit "-S -c 0" and "ulimit -c unlimited"
   - wont the second override the first ? ]

Hmm. 'man ulimit' on SL6.1 says
               -n     The  maximum  number of open file descriptors (most
 		     systems do not allow this value to be set)

What does it say on Red Hat ? Which Red Hat ?
