Is the srpm for R 2.13.0 in a different place than the previous versions 
or has it been accidentally missed out of the .../5x/SRPMS/SL/ tree?

Hmm, a quick search shows that it seems to be in .../5x/SRPMS/vendor/ 
which isn't what I would have expected...  and some of the other R srpms 
are in vendor/ too...

[ I was just wondering about the possibility of updating to R-2.13.1 for 
sl5.7 - since 2.13.1 came out a few days ago... ]
