We face the same problem for non-root access to RS232 serial ports
and funny USB devices - permissions need to be "chmod a+wr". In the very
old days, one put this into /etc/rc.local and it worked. Then
came "hotplug" scripts, and it was hard to figure them out,
then "hotplug" was replaced by "udev" and it is even harder
to figure out and make it work. "udev" scripts that worked in SL5
quit in SL6, etc.
