Which connection does the graphics system use - PCI, AGP, PCI Express ?
IIRC writing to the AGP bus was very fast, but getting data back
to the CPU from the graphics memory was *slower* than PCI, so
a GPU would be a big win when decompressing MPEG data to screen,
but transcoding and saving the result to disk would not be anything
like as fast.
