Very long time ago we made such solution for RHEL 4 to SL migration for
our clients:

  http://www.linux-ink.ru/static/rhel2sl/4/

For RHEL 5 main idea may be the same -- install yum-related packages and
replace packages changed at SL:

  http://www.scientificlinux.org/distributions/5x/features/changed
