I have seen many stability issues using Skype on RHEL 6.1/x86_64. Which 
was not the case one RHEL6.0/x86_64. Unfortunately, Skype's latest Linux 
release is 2.2.0.25-fc10 and only for 32bit. (Note that between fc10 and 
RHEL6 there is a gap of two years...)

Hopefully Google Talk becomes a viable option for mainstream use soon.
