Hmm, perhaps it won't be as simple as checking with a LiveCD.  Can you give the output of 'uname -svrmpio' (or uname -a, without the hostname....).  The output of dmidecode could be useful as well, and dmesg (either send privately  or use pastebin rather than to the list, however).
