That'd be possible on this particular box, but I'd like to come up with
a nice way to upgrade any existing installation, so no reinstalls.

That would mean that the yum-conf-* package will remain at the 5.5
version, and a possible update coudl overwrite my changes. Even with the
configuration file protection, this smells fishy. Yes, doable, but just
a hack.
