Hi, All.  Thank you for the suggestions.  We were able to fix our problem after upgrading from "samba" to "samba3x" and making some configuration changes on both the Linux and Windows side.  On Linux, in order for "cupsaddsmb" to work we needed to map the AD user that runs "cupsaddsmb" to root.  I'm not sure exactly what was needed for our GPO to work properly, but we should be able to post more information if others are interested.
