Hi,
Is this just happening with those new kernels?
Or is it the new ATI drivers?

I've had fonts change when I updated NVidia drivers, but never to the 
extreme that you've had.

I would first try running on an older kernel, see if that changes the font.

I would then try getting and older ATI driver and see if that changes 
the font.

My bet is that it's the ATI driver.
