Hi,
xpdf sucks rendering bigger pdfs (30+ MB), e.g. geo posters.
It stopps when quickly (and slowly too) moving sliders.
For todays PDFs the ypdf is piece of software junk.
You'd better try to check evince which allows convenient text copy.

Try any possible PDF viewer for Linux you can grab from the Net.
Adobe has offered up to recently (you have to check it) several Acroread
versions - the former were smaller, less resource hungry and quicker.
