S.L. can be chainloaded.  But during the install you have to tell it to 
put grub on the partition that you are installing onto.
If you already have it installed, then boot into your Scientific Linux 
and regrub it telling it what partition to put the grub on.

   /sbin/grub-install /dev/sda3
