# rpmquery --provides xorg-x11-font-utils | grep mkfontdir
mkfontdir

# rpmquery --requires xorg-x11-font-utils | grep mkfontdir

Where is the reference to requiring "mkfontdir" ?

That may depend on what is already installed and which dependancy
resolver you are using.
