i started using scientific linux with version sl-5.2 and have online upgraded
to version sl-5.4.

i would imagine that your sl-4.3 cd set would have at least 2 burner programs,
1 for kde desktop, 'k3b' and 1 for gnome desktop '??'.

you can install from you cd set via either yum, yumex, or rpm. see 'man yum',
or 'man rpm' to see how to do a local install.

tho i have never tried, you should/may also be able to boot sl-4.3 install cd
and select *update* to install 'k3b' for 'kde desktop' or what ever if you are
using gnome.
