Hopefully I'm answering a question before it's asked.

Redhat just released a new kernel for RHEL 5, it should be going out 
into SL5 errata tomorrow (assuming everything goes correctly).
This new kernel does *not* fix the xfs on RAID-5 problem.
According to the bugzilla entry
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=512552
This xfs fix is not supposed to officially come out until RHEL 5.5, 
which would be SL 5.5.
We still have the patched version in our testing area at
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/5rolling/testing/x86_64/kernel/
