Obviously Scientific Linux is not what you need here, but a quick glance
at the Quantian website shows it hasn't been updated for nearly 3.5
years and there's no activity in the mailing list for nearly 2.

If I type the names of any of the software listed on Quantian's page
into the software installer on my desktop here (Mandriva 2009.1) it's
all available, and in much newer versions than on something not updated
for 3.5 years. Any modern distro with decent software repos should be
the same.

If it works for you great, but I'd avoid connecting it to the net when
it's missing 3.5 years of security updates!
