The first Release Candidate for Scientific Linux 5.4 has been released 
forboth i386 and x86_64.

We have created CD's, and DVD's for both i386 and x86_64.

Note that for CD's it might ask for more CD's that you are used to.  We 
know that and will work on it for the next release candidate.
