Hello,
As the saying goes, never say never.
For SL 5.3, yum is going to stay as it is with it's dependency on
yum-autoupdate.
I am going to look into removing that dependancy for SL 5.4, trying some
of the various techniques that people have suggested, and testing those
techniques against some of the crazy ways that people do installs.
I will report at the semi-annual SL Report at Hepix Spring 2009, and we
can discuss it at the Plenary discussion at the same Hepix.
I'll be asking (after we get this release out and I have some time) for
some of the techniques that people use to do installs.
Thanks
Troy
