Since the recent update of CUPS, I've had problems with it
crashing/hanging every day on my SL44 machines. One common symptom is
that "lpq" will hang. Restarting CUPS fixes the problem. The
versions of the CUPS packages installed on an affected machine are
shown below:

sirtommy 14:17% cat /etc/redhat-release
Scientific Linux SL release 4.4 (Beryllium)

sirtommy 14:16% yum list '*cups*'
Loading "kernel-module" plugin
Loading "versionfix" plugin
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Setting up repositories
Reading repository metadata in from local files
Beginning versionfix
Ending versionfix
Installed Packages
cups.i386 1:1.1.22-0.rc1.9.27.el installed
cups-libs.i386 1:1.1.22-0.rc1.9.27.el installed
hal-cups-utils.i386 0.5.2-8 installed
libgnomecups.i386 0.1.12-5 installed
Available Packages
bluez-utils-cups.i386 2.10-2.4 sl-errata
cups-devel.i386 1:1.1.22-0.rc1.9.27.el sl-errata
gimp-print-cups.i386 4.2.7-2 sl-base
libgnomecups-devel.i386 0.1.12-5 sl-base

My SL50 64-bit machines do not appear to be affected by this problem.
Eva.
