My understanding is that mailing lists like these also serve as a 
searchable archive. So if you ask a question but find an answer 
somewhere else you post it so that others stumbling across the thread 
know what the final answer was. (apart from 42 that is :-) )

That is all there was to my reply. No insults or sarcasm intended.
