Hello, I have really problem to change, recursively, the owner status of 
a mounted disk in SL5:

  chown -R ayad:ayad /scratch

  where I have messages like:

chown: changing ownership of 
`/scratch/ba220-jul-20-2008/ayad/comedi/comedi/comedi/old/CVS/Template': 
Read-only file system
***********

  even if I am executing the chown command from root.
