hi Fernando,
SMP or not is a kernel compile-time choice, as you are likely aware.
I have never seen it as an installation option.

Maybe the SL keepers have such a kernel ready to go, I don't know.

Regardless, the kernel headers would have to be installed to compile things
against your installed kernel. This is something you can select during
installation,
or afterwards (such as with add/remove software or yum).

It sounds like maybe you have already done this.

If you want, you can post your compile errors here.
I have never seen a situation where smp support caused a compile failure.
Its very interesting, thanks

Subject: SL 5.1 non-smp versus smp

Hello
I have noticed that there is no SMP kernel in the
repositories. Is this right?

How can I choose between SMP and no SMP kernel during the
installation?

It seems that the installation picked the SMP version
automatically, but I do not want it because I have some
modules that do not compile with it (Cisco VPN)

Thanks for your help

Fernando
