Hi,

thunderbird and firefox are really unstable in SL5 at the moment.

I spent sometime to find out the difference between SL5 and RHEL5 in regard to firefox and thunderbird, but I
haven't found anything.

My guess is that also on RHEL5 the problems are not yet fixed, see

Firefox: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432386
Thunderbird: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432702

At least for firefox it seems to be a gtk2 issue, see
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=11589&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&start=20

Updating gtk2-2.10.4-19.el5 to gtk2-2.10.13-1.fc6 seem to fix some/most of the problems. However this is not
an option if you want to stay with RHEL5. Nevertheless I will try to update gtk2.

At the moment it's really frustrating.

	Urs
