I added samba* to the file /etc/yum.d/yum.cron.exclude
and
rpm -U --force samba-client-previous.version 
samba-server-previous.version samba-common.previous.version

was it --force or --nodeps ? Sorry, i'm not on site right now and can 
not check,
but i think you get the idea.
