Hi Troy,

Thanks for the hint. It is now working. However it involved a few more
steps, which might be evident for someone more experienced, but here it
is as it might be helpful for someone else:

I had kernel 2.6.18-8.1.3 instaled and the latest is now 2.6.18-8.1.8
so I did as suggested:
yum install kernel-devel (brought in *-8.1.8)
yum install kernel (installed latest version and I rebooted using it)
yum install kernel-headers (Nvidia complained about missing headers and
aborted before I did this)

I used sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.11-pkg2.run kernel-source-path
/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-8.1.8.el5-x86_64
