In rescue mode, when you get the prompt, I normally do
modprobe 3w-9xxx  (or 3w-xxx depending on controller)
Though as you can see /dev/sda1 the 3ware modules are probably there 
already.
What does 'lsmod' return?


Also, sometimes it is just as easy to boot off a Knoppix CD,
mount your root /boot and /var partitions,
then chroot into the root partition and run grub-install (or lilo)
