Yes it did.

In SL5 I am building the iso images with a program that 
rebuilds the install images.  So this has the side effect that you have to 
stay in the same "tree" to make this work.  All pieces have to come from 
either the ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/50/i386 tree or 
from the ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/50/iso/i386 tree. 
No mixing.

There should be a boot.iso in the images directory in the first iso from 
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/50/iso/i386/ .  Try using 
that one as your basis.
