Ok as a former US Government person.. the time it would save would be
a better standardization of OS's. I had people wanting us to
standardize on Centos and some to standardize on SCIL but not enough
to get a large enough population to say this is acceptable to use. [At
one site I worked at, we needed to go through a rather long testing
process to say an OS met various needs.. and while Centos and SCI are
based on RHEL.. they both needed to go seperately to ensure that
security had not been degraded.]

Having one OS to do this with would have cut out that work and
head-ache as the size usage was large enough..
