Hi Keith,
I use a prism2 card.  The orinoco driver for it's never had scanning, 
and looking at SL5, looks like it still won't.  Looking at Fedora Core 7 
goals, it looks like that is one of their goals.  We'll see if they make 
it or not.
Anyway, I edit the essid and password by hand.
It does make it difficult in public places where you don't know the 
essid, but it works.
