Hi,


I suggest that you look at http://www.python.org/pyvault/ they supply
alternate packages for Python RHEL4/CentOS4 which can be installed in
parallel with the default 2.3. You may even find your prerequisites
ready (haven't checked thoses).

As for the python(abi) dependency it's supplied through the python
spec file. So If you don't have installed through a RPM build, it
won't get in the rpm dependency database.
