My earlier gripe about enigmail appears to have also been a problem with
the extension currently (still) published via mozilla.org.  On SL3.05
the workaround did not fix the problem.  The new .xpi file, however,
did.  See below for the location of a working extension (my
configuration is now using the mozilla.com version of thunderbird so I
can not evaluate whether this works with the distributed version in SL3).
