       Hello,

I got the same problem on Dell laptops C810 (SL4.1)
       and D520 (SL4.2)

       Looking in /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/gdm/:0.log
I noticed that the last line in both file :

       SetClientVersion: 0 8

is no longer here after a X crash.
