Just FYI:

mplayer (and its plugin) are available from DAG rpm
repository (mplayer / mplayerplug-in), so doing sthg
alike:

yum --enablerepo=dag install mplayer*

will bring you mplayer and its browser plugin.

As for non-native codecs, see:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/dload.html

(look for Codecs , download package(s), drop them
in /usr/lib/win32/ .. and that's it)
