Dear SL, ist there an easier way to configure sendmail than what I did?
Something like system-config-sendmail or so?

I need sendmail to omit the hostname from the envelope from address
(i.e., it should be [log in to unmask] instead of
[log in to unmask]). I also want it to use a smart host
for delivery. What I did: I first installed sendmail-cf (in addition to
sendmail), then edited /etc/mail/sendmail.mc (I activated the lines
define(`SMART_HOST'..., MASQUERADE_AS(`..., and
FEATURE(masquerade_envelope) ) and then ran make. I am not enough of a
sendmail expert to know whether all that is correct. I would feel more
comfortable if some higher-level configuration tool would offer me a
preconfigured sendmail configuration for the situation "use a
smarthost".

This is Scientific Linux SL release 4.1 (Beryllium).
