  Hi all,

  I'm trying to use the distributed ATI module in an SMP notebook (P4 HT).

  When booting the 2.6.9-34.ELsmp I get the following messages in system
logs :

=========8<----------- cut here -------------------
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies,
Starnberg, GERM ANY' taints kernel.
fglrx: Unknown symbol mm_tracking_struct
fglrx: Unknown symbol do_mm_track
=========8<----------- cut here -------------------

And the module is not loaded and the 3D acceleration is not activated.

   When booting the 2.6.9-34.EL kernel I get the following messages :

=========8<----------- cut here -------------------
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies,
Starnberg,
GERM
ANY' taints kernel.
[fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 372 MBytes.

[fglrx:firegl_addmap] *ERROR* mtrr allocation failed (-22)
[fglrx] Internal AGP support requested, but kernel AGP support active.
[fglrx] Have to use kernel AGP support to avoid conflicts.
[fglrx] Kernel AGP support doesn't provide agplock functionality.
[fglrx] AGP detected, AgpState = 0x1f00021b (hardware caps of chipset)

[fglrx] max   Inv = 0
[fglrx] total Inv = 0
[fglrx] total TIM = 0
[fglrx] total FB  = 0
[fglrx] total AGP = 8192
=========8<----------- cut here -------------------

  That is, the module is not able to load the internal AGP support due to
the presence of the kernel AGP support.

  In the kernel config for non SMP kernel we have :

CONFIG_AGP=y
CONFIG_AGP_ALI=y
CONFIG_AGP_ATI=y
CONFIG_AGP_AMD=y
CONFIG_AGP_AMD64=y
CONFIG_AGP_INTEL=y
CONFIG_AGP_INTEL_MCH=y
CONFIG_AGP_NVIDIA=y
CONFIG_AGP_SIS=y
CONFIG_AGP_SWORKS=y
CONFIG_AGP_VIA=y
CONFIG_AGP_EFFICEON=y
CONFIG_DRM=y

That is, it is configured built in, not as module, and I couldn't find a
way to disabe this to try the ATI module support.

  To make it short, the module is not being loaded in SMP kernel due to
unknown symbols and in nonSMP kernel it is loaded but is not fully
functional due to the presence of the internal kernel AGP support.

  Was someone able to use this ATI support with any degree of success ?

  TIA

  Roxo
