The situation now is the following:

- indeed, the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 was NOT
existing. I did /usr/sbin/netconfig by hand and I set again all the numbers
which you can see also in the attached /root/anaconda-ks.cfg. The result was
that now in that directory I have both an ifcfg-eth0 and an ifcfg-lo. 

- I thought that now the problem is solved. I did a reboot of the system
but, again, I got the same error message (SIOCSIFFLAGS: no such device). 

- system-config-network shows me again all the numbers I set, shows me the
interface eth0 inactive, but then pressing on "activate" gives the same
error message as above. and, as I checked, the file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth is still there...
