Recently I'd finally managed to install SL 4.2 on my second hard disk. The
first HD runs OS/2, and displays just fine at a resolution of 1280x1024 and
16-bit color on my 21 inch monitor, a Hitachi SuperScan 812.

But after the SL install, the only display options offered are resolutions
of 640x480 or 800x600, 256 colors, and a refresh rate of 85 Hz. SL claims
that the video card is a 3DLabs Permedia 2 (generic), when in fact it is an
Elsa Gloria Synergy.

How do I get SL to recognize correctly my video setup?

Two other questions:

- In the boot choices offered by GRUB, the selection line has a black back-
ground, and the screen background is almost all black, making the selec-
ted line almost impossible to see. Is there a way of modifying this?

- After booting, and invoking LVM (needs password), a window appears and
  immediately disappears. What gives?
