Sure - we "g77 -f95", which is the Gnu Fortran 95 compiler.  It's been 
part of standard Linux distributions since the first time I looked for 
it.  We use ifort as well, because some of our codes require bug-for-bug 
compatability with it and because it's supposed to optimize code better 
for x86 chips -- but g77 is universally available, and quite friendly.

To install g77 on SL4:
# yum install gcc-g77
(Yum will, of course, ask you if it should install any necessary 
dependencies.)
