Dear SL users,

FYI:
I started to use SL since version 4.0 so I have no comments on previous
versions of SL, but with
SL 4.X and RH enterprise (ES 3 or AS 3, I forgot), I have problem with
sound card if I use KDE.
No problem under GNOME, though.

I understand that RH sets GNOME as default WM. Besides, I prefer nedit
as my editor and nedit
has some problem with KDE until the latest version. However, I have to
use KDE because if I use
GNOME and XDMCP from Windows machines, the display refreshing is
unbelievably slow.
With KDE, everything is fast. This may not have anything to do with the
sound card problem, but
this is the reason that I switch from GNOME to KDE and the reason why I
also encounter sound
problem.

>I recently upgraded my Dell Optiplex GX280 from SL3.0.4 to SL4.2. Since
>doing so sound no longer works, whereas it did under SL3. If I open the
>Volume Control app I get a dialog box reading "Sorry, no mixer elements
>and/or devices found". Any ideas?
