Reboot problem with SL 4.2 x86_64 and IBM x346

I have an IBM x346 server, 2 cpu XEON 3 GHz EM64T , 2 Gb RAM, RAID 7k

Installation of SL 4.2 i386 works.

Installation of SL 4.2 x86_64 hangs always when rebooting, even in the first 
reboot during installation sequence.
The last message on the console after the command "reboot" is:
...
"Restarting System"

and nothing happens after this message.
No relevant error messages are found in /var/log/messages.

The "shutdown" command works correctly.

Also with SL 4.1 x86_64 the result is the same, no rebooting. 

Any suggestion?
