SL 4.2 i386: How to fix CD-ROM, Preferences::Removable Storage and other SELinux problems.
The solution is simple. By returning to the previous SL 4.1 SELinux policy:
1) Disable SELinux (System Settings::Security Level).
2) Reboot.
3) rpm -ev selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-2.110.SL
rpm -ivh
ftp://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux/scientific/41/i386/SL/RPMS/selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-2.88.noarch.rpm
4) Reboot.
5) Enable SELinux (System Settings::Security Level). This causes relabeling of the file
system (security attributes are placed) on next boot.
6) Reboot - relabeling takes place.
7) Problems are fixed! Now CD-ROM automounts, Preferences::Removable Storage runs without
problems, and everything is back to normal and stable.
*** Be careful to not update to selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-2.110.SL via "yum update",
or yumex, once again.
