I would also check to make sure SELinux isn't killing it.  The SELinux 
update that went with Update 2 has been known to stop USB drives, file 
systems not ext3, automounting, NetManager, and several other program's 
I am sure.
Looking through the logs (as was mentioned) will reveal if it is selinux 
creating the problem or not.
Actually, as I write this, I am remembering something dealing with 
apache and selinux, and the correct way to configure them both.  I'm not 
finding it with a quick search of my e-mail, but I think if you google 
it you should be able to find it.
