I have now checked, and reported the bug to nedit, please see this note

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1087192&group_id=11005&atid=111005

I feel this issue is trivial enough to upgrade nedit to the latest version on Scientific linux due to the nature of the new version being so good, and now I think of it I may have only found this now as I may have done this work around before when I installed the "new" Woody version of Debian some 3 years ago.

Regards

Owen

PS

Half finished bug entry also sumitied by mistake
