I've got clues but haven't figured out the problem yet.  Here's some of 
the clues.
When yum want's specific header information, it's pulling out a small 
part of the rpm from the yum repository, directly from the rpm.
ut for some reason it can't pull it out of that rpm.  I've checked the 
md5sum's, verified the rpm, dowloaded it by hand.  I've checked that the 
i386 version works correctly.  I've even rebuild the yum repo on the 
server.  And I'm not finding the real problems.
