 Hi Jan,
	Yes I found new rpm for CERNLIB which 
 does make symlink to /cern.
 
 I have not found a root rpm that does the same
 ie.
 If you do 
 "yum install root" you should get 
 /cern/root

 I am using 
 root-4.02.00-1.i386.rpm
