Hi all,

Thanks for all your suggestions, but I've solved my problem a third way:

* Got myself an expanded source tree.
* configured the new modules I wanted.
* make modules
* copied these new modules by hand to the /lib/modules/ area.
* run depmod.

Everything seems to be working fine now. I've rebuilt a lot of modules
that I didn't need to, but it doesn't take that long on my system anyway.

I guess I could also have built a new kernel completely, moved the
openafs module into the new tree and run depmod again?

Cheers,
Rob
